Commonly used tools for safecracking
A safe cracking expert uses various safecracking tools such as torches, saws and drills. With the help of torches, the locksmith can look into the interior part of the safe carefully. Saws and drills help in breaking the sturdy surface of the safes. If the safe is a burglary safe, then it contains higher security elements and require advanced locksmith tools for cracking purpose.
Methods for safecracking
Safecracking is done by burglars or professional locksmiths using various safecracking methods.
Manipulating locks:
For opening a safe, locks need to be manipulated so that the safe is not damaged. Locks that can be manipulated are rotary combination locks, combination padlocks, etc. The anti-manipulation methodologies are serrated wheels, drivers, dialling, etc.
Guessing the combination lock:
If one can guess the combination, then it is easy to open the lock.
Autodialers:
Several companies have devised autodialers for opening safes. Autodialers help in opening of combination in few seconds. Recently, computerized manipulation tools are also used for safecracking.
Drilling the weak points of the safe:
Hard surfaces of safes can be cracked using drilling or physical mechanisms. However, it does not mean that drilling can be done on any part of the safe. The safe manufacturers prepare drill point diagrams pertaining to safes. This is the most commonly used methods by professional locksmiths. In case of burglaries, defective locks or damaged safes, this method can be used in the most effective manner. This method is easier to implement as compared to other safecracking methods.
Punching and peeling:
Punching is another methodology for safecracking. As the name suggests, peeling facilitates removal of the exterior surface of the safe.
Scoping:
Scoping involves drilling a hole into the safe and insertion of a borsescope to observe the internal portion of the safe.
A professional safe locksmith utilizes the right safecracking tools and methods. The determination of exact mechanism and tool depends upon the condition of the safe.
